CHEERS! To the release of Rihanna’s new music video for her single ‘Cheers (Drink To That)‘ – I shall definitely raise a glass to this one! We get up close and personal with the ‘Man Down’ singer as the visual combines clips of her performances during her ‘Loud’ tour, behind the scene clips and footage of her personal moments representing her fun times, and the happy stages in her life thus far. I will never tire of this hot tune as I totally appreciate the feel-good, fun-filled nature, and the chilled out video which appropriately accompanies it.
Check out the new video below, and…
Happy weekend everyone! 😀
The Otis Redding-sampled single serves as the next release lifted from Jay-Z and Kanye West’s album ‘Watch the Throne’. The accompanied music video is cool, feel-good natured and is quite a stripped-back video compared to their previous graphic-filled visuals.
The track itself isn’t really my thing but I love the simplicity of the video, allowing their endearing personalities to glow; plus you could even strongly sense the brotherly-love between the two rappers, as they act like two care-free, down to earth guys purely having fun, enjoying life, and success!
See Jay and Kanye in action in the ‘Otis’ video below…
Drake recently announced that he is planning a joint album with Lil Wayne.
In an interview with radio DJ Tim Westwood, the ‘Best I Ever Had’ rapper said, “We still got to do that album. I heard some other guys are coming out with an album, too. There’s two other rappers that are coming out with an album together. … I don’t know where they got that idea but …” – I think we all know the “two other rappers” he’s referring to here!
He continued, “I just caught wind of it through the grapevine, that there’s some other album coming out with two guys rapping on it too.”
Hmmm, so how will Drake and Lil Wayne’s joint project rival against Jay-Z and Kanye West’s upcoming Watch the Throne? …
For now though, here’s the lead single ‘H.A.M’ from Jay-Z’s and Kanye’s collaborative LP.
I guess there are high hopes for the X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd, who has apparently been signed to Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation. The rapper who also signed artists such as Lil’ Kim and Willow Smith, admitted that he was impressed by Cher’s X Factor performances. She has constantly been viewed to have brought something fresh and unique to the table, maintained that ‘swagger’ she had shown in her first audition, and was seen to have spiced up the talent show; therefore this incredible news is far from a surprise.
An insider told The Sun newspaper that “Even though Cher didn’t do terrifically well in the X Factor finals, there’s been a hell of a lot of interest in her…All the labels are on the lookout for sassy, young female artists with bags of attitude, and Cher fits that bill perfectly.” Although Will.i.am who has recently recorded a “mega smasher” with the 17-year-old, has been backing the singer since the beginning, he couldn’t possibly compete with the super powers of Jay-Z who has the ability to instantly turn you into a worldwide superstar, boasting a huge money-stacking career.
The insider added, “After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a reality.”
She does have that enormous confidence and that star quality, and very much deserves this massive opportunity. She proves that coming fourth in the singing competition isn’t all that bad at all, and I bet she must feel like a winner now! So could 2011 be her year?
I remember when I first heard this tune on the radio, and I’ve been awaiting the music video ever since…don’t really know what I was expecting, but I definitely didn’t expect to be this mesmerised!
This impressive video starring the adorable Willow Smith is busting with originality, energy and fun – it’s entertaining, appropriately colourful and bright – just perfect for her age. She also has her own unique image while making fashion statements throughout, like her hair (especially the heart-shape style and candyfloss hair-do), the clothes, the makeup, the NAILS! She definitely proves to be a hot young chick with attitude, but still is able to maintain her cuteness.
You can tell the director, Ray Kay, was full of a number of exciting ideas; especially the creative one of dipping her hair in coloured paint and whipping her hair, splashing some colour in the plain white and dead-out room. I love the way she literally brings the classroom to light and life, exactly what this track would do to any room. The whole theme of the video is totally compatible with the track itself, and lil’ Willow is definitely an inspiration to all the lil’ kids her age. You’ll all be whipping your hair (if you have any) by the end of this video…trust!
Anyone without hair is feeling a little left out right now am I right!?
I’m not really gonna write a review… I just needed to feature these artists purely because it’s shocking how talented these kiddos are! Firstly, Jawan Harris who is only 12 years old, has mad talent in my opinion. Initially I wanted to write something about his song ‘Nobody’ which actually shows off his incredible voice much more (check it out if you ain’t heard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8rIQXKTeOU&feature=related) , but then I came across the track ‘Another Planet’ featuring Chris Brown of whom I’m a massive supporter of, and thought damn I am TOTALLY feeling this tune it’s on fyah! So decided to feature this one instead 😀 I’m definitely liking the diversion from the standard R’n’B and hearing them rap is quite refreshing. I predict this track’s gonna blow up and everyone be saying “I Be Up In Mars, I Be Up In Mars, I Be So Fly, I-i-i Can Touch The Stars, I Be Up In Mars, I Be Up In Mars, When You See That SpaceShip, Yup Thats My Car” …you singing it yet? You WILL be once you’ve heard it for sure!
I’m guessing Chris Breezy took this little man under his wing awww how sweet. This boy’s gonna go far; I can see a bright, exciting, and money-making future ahead of him 🙂 …
As for Willow Smith (daughter of Will and Jada Smith if you didn’t know), I actually can not come to terms with the fact that this raw-talented young girl is only 9 years old. I can’t help but think her new song ‘Whip My Hair’ seems way too old for her – like I can hear someone like Keri Hilson dropping this track for her next single with Nicki Minaj on the hook. Or maybe you could think of another line-up? But lets face it the girl has a gift that not many girls her age have. Looking beyond the age thing, I most definitely think that this is one fiery track that will tear the roofs off houses, sheds, cars, and whatever else! Be ready to be amazed 🙂 …
